Event Details
Introduction to DJing is a 5 week DJ Course with the principal objective to teach participants the fundamentals of the disc jockey craft. The classes will explore the technique and mathematics of djing. Students will learn how to use modern professional DJ equipment known as digital controllers and the Serato software. The class will culminate with a Final Project: the creation of a 30 minute recorded mix. Each participant will also be provided with an opportunity to do a live 45-minute performance at #HushPartyBmore Silent Party. Participants will receive purchasing advice, a thumb drive of music, and a Certificate of Achievement. Quick and Eazy DJs will provide the classroom tools to complete the Intro to DJing course.
A certificate is awarded to students who attend the classes, pass a written final exam, and record a mix. Participating in the live DJing performance is optional. The mix and live DJing performance provide students, instructors, and potential employers with a student’s proof of competency.
The outcome of taking the Intro to DJing course is for students to create their own mix. The mix is a thirty (30) minute (minimum) recording of a student’s beat mixing. The mix is one example of the proof of competency aspect that is integrated within the certificate program. The mix can also be included as part of the DJ’s portfolio as a marketing tool to get bookings.
The purpose of the final exam is to assess students’ learning of the material covered during the certificate program. This written examination may consist of multiple-choice, true/false, and/or short answer questions.
A grade of eighty-five percent (85%) or better is needed to pass the final exam.
Curriculum Cost and requirements
The Intro to Djing Course costs $500. This cost is to be paid in full before the first day of class. No refunds are offered once the student has committed to completing the course. There will be NO MAKE UP CLASSES… Students who miss a class can request extra time with the instructor and schedule a private training lesson for $50.
